Front Garden with woodland planting
The front garden to this beautiful Georgian House did not match the very tasteful interior. The area featured beautiful old trees, but had become overgrown and difficult to control. It was paramount to keep and enhance the beauty of the old trees and the bluebells that flourish underneath them, whilst providing some more low-maintenance planting space.
Careful crown-lifting allowed more light and easier access, and raised planters made of reclaimed bricks matching the period of the house are filled with woodland planting such as ferns, hostas and other shade-lovers. The structures are reminiscent of old well-heads, and one has been turned into a still pond. A gravel path allows easy access to the planters.
