Sky Gardens

Eastern Piece of Art

Passionate art collectors wanted to turn their lawn into a 'living piece of art', which they could enjoy hands-on. The couple had a strong connection to Cornish granite, which forms the back-bone to this Japanese-inspired garden. A dry river bed flows from the source flanked by two Katrina Trinick-ceramics, and is spanned by two granite bridges. A tall, flame-like driftwood sculpture forms a powerful counterpoint

at the other end of the garden. Two granite benches, one sheltered by a tall bamboo hedge, the other overlooking the playful ying & yang symbol, invite restful contemplation of the garden, perhaps following a zen-raking of the gravel curves. The careful composition is enhancd by a restrained planting scheme, designed to provide a slow, seasonal fireworks display throughout the year.
